Deep Creek Lake is the largest inland body of water in the U.S. state of Maryland. It covers

approximately 3,900 acres and has 69 miles of shoreline. The state park has a beautiful beach area and the lake is a perfect place for boating, water sports, and fishing. There are more than 90,000 acres of public land that make up state forests and parks. The area offers many trails great for hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing with varying lengthy and difficulties. It is also home to Maryland’s tallest waterfall, a spectacular rock maze, historic sites, and bird sanctuaries. Wisp Ski Resort makes Deep Creek an all-season vacation paradise.

  • Deep Creek Lake Lavender Farm - pastoral scenery is truly breathtaking. The kids can pick their own bouquet, and you can also visit their farm store that is stocked with lots of lavender-based products.

  • Scenic CHAIRLIFT RIDE at Wisp Resort. Ride the chairlift to the top of the mountain at Wisp for beautiful lake views. When you get to the top, walk to the Adventure Sports Center International and watch whitewater rafters.

  • Hovatter's Wildlife Zoo - in Kingwood, WV is a great Zoo for the kids. A little bit of a drive but worth the trip.

  • Alpaca Acres Farm and Fiber - meet and greet the alpacas, attend one of the family-friendly events, reserve a campfire, and spend some time together enjoying the outdoor farm activities.

  • Discovery Center at Deep Creek Lake State Park - an educational venue with hands-on exhibits that focus on the natural resources of Western Maryland Deep.

  • Visit the petting zoo at Schoolhouse Earth. Adults can do a little shopping at this eclectic store while the little ones check out the llamas, goats, and chickens at the petting zoo.

  • Create your own Donuts at Deep Creek Donuts

  • Go on an Ice Cream Tasting Tour: hit them all or pick and choose: Lakeside Creamery (delicious homemade ice cream), Saffiticker's Ice Cream Shop (soft serve, sundaes, milk shakes, flurries), Katie's Ice Cream, Huey's Ice Cream, Devlers Ice Cream

  • Rent a two-person kayak at the State Park. The doubles are perfect for exploring with young kids. The guides there can point you in the direction of the best spots to observe migrating birds.

  • Wisp Ski Resort has a kids program in the winter for skiing and snowboarding and summer with activities at the beach and resort, a full-day programm from 8:30 - 3:00pm for kids age 5-12. Depending on the season, on Saturdays they offer Kids Night Out.

  • The DCL Sailing School offers a sailing summer camp for kids 6-17

Your toddler can enjoy all the adventures with you, depending on their personality and likes. Bring a hiking backpack with you. Chalet Alpenglow provides a highchair, outlet covers, and a PacknPlay.
